CANvention is the convention for the Canadian Science Fiction & Fantasy Association / Association canadienne de la science-fiction et du fantastique (CSFFA) where the Aurora Awards are presented. The Aurora’s honour the best achievements in Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy from the past year.

KeyCon with be adding several items to the Programming and Extravaganzas dockets this include the Business Meeting of CSFFA, a Gala Banquet and Presentation of Aurora Awards.

Details of CANvention28 are still being finalized but as they are know we will be posting them on the Keycon website. Here what we know so far:

Gala Banquet – this is a ticketed event
Date - Sunday May 18th, 2008
Time – 6:00pm for cocktails
Pre-Cost – $25.00 (includes 1 drink ticket)

Door Cost – $30.00

Once the nominations are closed the short list will be compiled and then the voting can begin. There are three methods of voting for the Aurora’s

1) Online/Mail-In*.
2) Montreal will be having a SF/F con the week before Keycon and those attending can vote there*.
3) Anyone attending Keycon 2008 (have a valid membership) can vote at KeyCon.

* Both options 1 & 2 require a small fee to vote –voting fees, donation and the host convention finance the awards. There is no permanent funding-it is on a year-to-year basis for CANvention/Aurora Awards.
