Official Hospitality Suite

Keycon's Hospitality suites are more than just a couple of suites. It's the entire 15th floor of the Radisson. The stories from conventions past have helped the floor transcend to legendary status. Hallway sing-a-longs to spooky suites and new friends found or old friends rediscovered.

All the Hospitality Suites for 2013 have been booked. If you have questions about Hospitality, please contact our coordinator John Pattie.

Here's the current lineup for the 15th floor:

1502 - The Staggering Penguin *Official Hospitality Suite*
1504 - The Awesome Suite
1506 - The Crew
1508 - Winnipeg Anime Club (WAC)
1510 - Operations
1512 - The Filk suite
1514 - You do not see this room. It looks like a room, but it is not.

Here's some of what you can expect from the suites this year:

1502 - The Staggering Penguin Tavern (Official Con Suite)
Come weary con goers and put your feet up at The Penguin.
We have libations to wet your whistle, food to fill your belly, music to lift your spirits, and games to pass the time between rounds of drinks.
For those who wish to try their luck, we have a draw with some epic prizes.
Tickets for the draw will be granted to those who complete quests for The Penguin bar staff. There will be questing all weekend for ALL ages.
We will be serving drinks & food all weekend long both alcoholic and not.
This Year we have two drink specials, do I need to say more?

1500 - Science Fiction Winnipeg (SFW)
Come to the the New Science Fiction Winnipeg suite on the 15th floor.
Get your "Library Card' and bring your "Sense of Wonder"

1504 - The Room of Awesome
Good things come in threes, and so The Room of Awesome is back for a third year!
Step inside to gaze upon our walls of silly memes, relax and watch a bevy of random Internet videos.

Official Hospitality Suite - The Staggering Penguin

What is the official Hospitality Suite you ask?

Every year a single suite is chosen as the official hospitality suite of Keycon. As part of the honor of being official, Keycon provides the room (1502), and a certain amount of Money to help cover the costs of running the suite.

In Exchange, these brave souls keep their suite open an insane amount of hours, and provide refreshments for the masses.

How does a suite become the official Hospitality Suite?

The successful suite will:

Already be confirmed as a hospitality suite.
Present a bid containg a budget, theme, potential menu, and how this suite will enhance the convention overall.
Bids were made at the September meeting (September 11).
All candidates were notified within 30 days of the results of the bid.

Frequently ask questions regarding bidding for the Hospitality Suite:

Q: What Hours are the Official Hospitality Suite Expected to be open?
A: The minimum hours the official suite needs to be open is: Friday 2000-0200, Saturday 0900-0200, Sunday 0900-0200.

Q:What meals/food/other is expected to be available from the Consuite?
A: At all times light snacks, water, and non-alcoholic beverage (Pop &/or, Juice &/or, Tang &/or, etc.) of some sort needs to be available. There are 4 servings that will be expected from the Consuite: Breakfast Saturday morning, Dinner Saturday late afternoon/ early evening, Breakfast Sunday Morning, Sunday Light Dinner / Dead Dog Snack

Q:What is the budget of the official hospitality suite?
A:$1000, reciepts are required. If you exceed the $1000, it's upto the suite to fund that overage.

Q: How much of the above is set in stone, and non-negotiable?
A: We're open to discussing any of the above.
