Letter to Dealers

Hello Potential Keycon Dealers.

My name is Alex Stornel and I am your Dealer Liaison for Keycon 2015 which is taking place at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Winnipeg on the upcoming May long weekend (May 14-17). Yes you read that right the convention starts on the Thursday, but the dealer’s room will be open FridaySunday. As some of you are new dealers that we are soliciting and some are potential returning dealers I will give you a complete picture of the event.

Keycon is Manitoba’s premier Science Fiction & Fantasy Literary Convention. It focuses on science fiction, fantasy and related literary genres in any form. It includes, but is not limited to, writing, visual arts, television and film. For more information about Keycon please check www.keycon.org.

The Dealer’s Room will be located in the Ambassador Room H on the 12th floor, directly across the hall from the restaurant. The Dealer’s Room will be open to the public, convention membership is not required to come in, browse and make purchases.

The changes this year are:

1) Tables: We have both 6 and 8 foot tables available.

2) Cost:

  • 8 Foot Tables:  $50 (only 3 left as of Jan 10)
  • 6 Foot Tables: $45 (only 4 left as of Jan 10)

If for some reason you are unable to attend as a dealer, table fees will be refunded minus a $20 Admin fee up to March 31, 2015, after this date table fees are non-refundable

In addition to the cost of the table purchase, for each table purchased we ask a $20 Merchandise donation, this will be used as volunteer prizes.  This is to be provided at the convention.

3) Keycon Bucks

We will be doing Prize draws for Keycon bucks that we ask all dealers to honour (You will be reimbursed). We are doing this to help encourage more customers in the dealers room.  In order to be entered to win Keycon Bucks a person must make a purchase at a dealers table.  For every $5 dollars they spend they will receive a ticket for the draw.  Draws will take place at several points throughout the weekend

1 on Friday,
2 on Saturday and;
1 on Sunday.

4) Hours

Friday Setup Starts at 5 p.m.

Friday 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. (The break is so we are not competing against the Masquerade)

Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

5) Wrist Bands

All of the dealers will receive 2 wrist bands for their staff.  If you require additional wrist bands for other staff you will have to arrange that in advance.  The wrist bands do not give you access to the rest of the convention.  A membership would have to be purchased to have full access.
