Combine an Xbox, a video projector and a 7 foot screen and what do you get?

Keycon 22's Halo 2 tournament!

The fast paced first person shooter action of Halo 2 will be out in full force at this year's Keycon in the form of a tournament. The concept is simple; utilizing the Xbox's split screen feature, we will be having multiplayer battles head to head against other people at the convention, with each player getting in essence a 42" screen. The tournament will begin around 3 on Saturday and run till around 7pm.

The general game play will go as follows. In round one, each contestant will play in a four person modified-slayer death match, with a 10 minute time limit. The winner of each round will be the player with the highest score, ranked by Halo 2's scoring systems (most kills, minus suicides). Until demand proves otherwise, there will be 4, 10 minute games per hour, which will give 5 minutes in between to tally the score and set up the next match. Over three hours of regular play, this will let 48 players enter the competition, and yield 12 winners, who will go on to round two, which will proceed exactly as round one. This time there will be just three games of four-player-slayer matches. The top four scores of round two will go on to a final round to determine the champion. If time allows, this round will be longer, up to 20 minutes total.

Summary of Game play:
  • 10 minute Slayer matches, with no kill limit.
  • Weapons and Vehicles will be set at map default.
  • Starting primary weapon will be the Battle rifle, with SMG as the secondary.
  • Highest score (Kills minus suicides) wins round.
  • Maps will be chosen at random from the following, Midship, Ascension, Zanzibar, Beaver Creek, Foundation, Ivory Tower and Lock out.
  • There is no class system; beginners and advance players will all be welcome.
Additional Rules:
  • Ties will be decided with a King of the hill game on Midship.
  • Each person can only enter once, but when the tournament is done, if time permits, players will have another chance at games.
  • The organiser (That'd be me,) is permitted to enter but unable to win any prizes, if any become available.
  • All foul language must be presented in another language or code, for example, Sheet! in place of, well; you see where I.m going with this?
  • Respect all other players, volunteers and equipment, and I suppose yourself, too!
  • If all four players agree, the map can be chosen, but only from the 7 listed above.

Rules are subject to change between now and the tournament. If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact me at traviswalters23@yahoo.ca.
